The day had finally arrived. I bat my eyes open after some excited tossing and turning the entire night. The marriage was scheduled for the mid hours of the day and not many were up this early. I freshened up and came back to see people slowly getting up and ready. I was thrilled but everyone had their happy faces on. Kids were basically bundles of joy, hovering around the food plates. Elders were stressing out with work and the oldest lot was making its way to shower me with their blessings.

All of my people were here to celebrate my union with a man, I'd be loving now forever. Though I was anxious for the ceremonies, the very thought of leaving this place was shuddering. After some procrastination, I finally gathered the will to sit down and get ready. The photographers came in flashing their lenses against my face and my clothes. I began my beauty regime and sooner than later, I was ready to get married. There were various hymns being ranted as I put on my shoes, making the way out. There was some hesitancy in the situation. I felt something was missing but got carried away. My mom rushed from inside and put the ancestral bangles on my hand.

"And suddenly, it fit me in, completely."
