Everyone's Silent Hero

He toiled, he worked hard, he gave up on his priorities so he could take you to the merry-go-round fairs. He worked that night, he wanted a promotion not because he wanted to stand out from his peers but because he could buy you a new bike. He wanted to work that shift so you would not miss him when you’re back home from school. He wanted to bike down to office so you would have fuel in the car to go and have fun.

He wanted to go to London, take a trip to Leh on the bike but he was

busy covering your notebooks, collecting your mark sheets, and listening to the world on how to groom you, make you a better man.

He could have gone to London, he could have bought himself a box of gold, he could have had a gang o’ cars, a bag full o’ fun. But he decided to let you have the last piece of his favorite cake, let you take that fully climate controlled air-conditioned car, let you steal money, let you learn from your own crafts, let you play guitar over decibels when he was sick, lend you an innumerable sum of money just because you wanted to have some fun with your pretty li’l wives.

He made his sacrifices. It was his sacrifice that you have grown into a handsome man, with a car key and a flat to call your home; but he is still living where he spent his childhood, in his village. You don’t call him, you don’t message him, you remember him once a month when you need a signature to stand for you. Is it why he sent you the best of schools, took those night shifts, let you drive his car, gave you the best of food?
